Sister Mary Fowlkes is a beloved minister of comfort and care, both in the house of God and the halls of healing. For over 50 years, she has served at Chester County Hospital, faithfully wheeling patients into the Operating Room — not just with steady hands, but with heartfelt prayers. Known by her colleagues as the “Mayor,” Sister Mary’s gentle spirit and powerful faith have brought peace to countless hearts in moments of deep need.

A faithful member of Bethel AME Church in West Chester, she also ministers through beauty and celebration. From Pastor’s anniversaries and Men’s or Women’s Day services to baby showers and birthday banquets, she is the trusted hand behind joyful, reverent spaces that speak grace.

She is lovingly assisted by her real sister, Sister Martha, whose quiet strength and steady presence bless every event behind the scenes.

Together, they create sanctified atmospheres — welcoming, comforting, and honoring each occasion with warmth, prayer, and care.
